Q: Do you charge extra for twins?

This question is asked in every twin inquiry I receive- and for good reason! I don't have twins myself, but I can mentally double the cost of necessities for my kiddos and YEESH, that adds up quick! So my answer is simple: nope!

Do the take longer to photograph?

Yes.

Double the work?

Usually.

Is an assistant necessary for the session?

Absolutely YES!

So why don't I charge extra? This answer is complicated- and varies greatly from photographer to photographer. For one, I have a studio partner that trades services with me for sessions that need assistance (so I'm not required to pay her). This allows me to not have to charge an additional fee- yay! But understand that many photographers don't have this "luxury" and will need to hire an assistant for the day of the session.

Another reason is that- though it may be more work and take longer than a traditional session- most families end up purchasing more images once they receive their proof gallery because theres double the baby! So that extra work and time spent is compensated that way for me.

And finally- like I mentioned before, I understand that twins are never planned, and the extra expenses likely leave little wiggle room in the budget. I'd hate for you to forgo a session with me simply because the additional cost of having twins is out of your price range! You're paying nearly double for everything else in their lives- capturing beautiful memories doesn't have to be double the cost too!

Newborns J and C came to me back in January with their beautiful big sister, mom and dad. They slept for most of their session sleeping (*insert happy dance here*) and were really easy to pose. For newborns, I make it a priority to do shots separate AND together!

They may not be the easiest to photograph- but I do get a little giddy every time a twin inquiry pops into my inbox!
